Patriotism and Piety: Not For Conservatives Only
Don’t we on the left actually believe that conservatives policies are repellent? Don’t we hold our responsibility to the natural environment as a sacred trust and get outraged when it is fouled by conservative policies? Decency is as much a value for us as for the right-wingers. So is a deep reverence for human life. If that’s what conservatives mean by spirituality, then we should not hesitate to proclaim the spirituality of our politics.
